Autumn 2007
I have a desk, plastic drawers, a few organizers, and a stand with a basket. I am trying very hard to get this area organized. My problem is space. I do not have enough space for everything that I want/need.
When my daughters move out (I still have at least 3-5 years), I will have an entire room for scrapbook and crafting. But that is still a little far in the future.
I had organized my papers and other materials by color, type and such only to to learn that, when creating scrapbooks to sell, you should be giving every single company credit for using there products. I also learned that not every company will allow you to use their products for things that you will make to sell.
As part of my organizing for space, I had tossed all of the packaging and labeling into the trash. I now have to organize all of the business stuff differently.
I do have some ideas for organizing my items for personal and business use better. Whether or not I will be able to afford to do all of them is another thing. Some I have already incorporated. I will try.
- I would like clear, plastic boxes with lids for each holiday, as well as graduation, wedding, anniversary, birthday, and baby categories, etc. These would be for personal scrapbooking, and would not be huge boxes. I would also have a couple of extra boxes for current projects.
- There are some things that can be used for personal and business use. Things that are used continuously for either: Templates, scissors, cutting mats, etc. I have a scrapbook organizer with wheels. It is designed to go with me for things such as crops. It holds things like my cutting systems, scissors, etc. (This is also where I store most of my photographs.)
- I have another organizer for templates which I will incorporate. I have colorblocking, colluzzle and other assorted templates which I use regularly.
- The basket (in the stand) holds magazines and books about scrapbooking.
- The plastic drawers hold mini albums for me to decorate, as well as plastic covers to store/mail finished products in so that nothing happens to them.
- The space under the stand holds 6x6 to 12x12 albums for me to scrap in.
- There is a desk unit made with sturdy cubes that you can turn into drawers, cupboards, slots or shelves. I would like this, when I finally get my scrappin'/craftin' room.
I am thinking that business supplies will have to be stored by company. I do not like this much, because it will: 1.) Take more of my precious space, and 2.) It will take more time to find what I want to use for products for each of my projects.
I will likely use all of those paper organizers for this, if the stuff will all fit, so that I will not have to purchase all new organizers for both personal and business scrappin'.
I will, however, need organizers for finished page layouts, cards, small gifts and albums. It will take me some time to get all of these.
I will post here when I get more things straightened out.
